Thomas The Tank Engine is a fictional locomotive train created by the Rev W V Awdry in 1946. He lives at the big station on the Island of Sodor with his friends.

Thomas The Tank Engine is a cheeky little engine with six small wheels, a short stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler and a short stumpy dome. After rescuing James after an accident the Fat Controller decided that he was a really useful engine.

His closest friends are Annie and Clarabel, his coaches. However over the years more and more new characters have appeared on the Island of Sodor.
